Tips: Attentions in using a temperature and humidity sensor

  1. Working and storage conditions
Working beyond the recommended working range of the temperature and humidity sensor may cause a temporary drift signal up to 3%RH. After returning to normal working conditions, temperature and humidity sensor will slowly resume to the standard condition. Refer to the recovery processing to speed up recovery process. Working under abnormal working conditions will accelerate the aging of products.
  2. Effects of exposure to chemicals
The sensing layer of the capacitive humidity sensor will be disturbed by chemical vapor. Diffusion of chemicals in the sensing layer may lead to drift of measured values and reduction of sensitivity. Pollutants will be released slowly in a pure environment. Recovery processing will accelerate this process. High concentration of chemical pollution, such as ethanol, can cause thorough damage to the sensing layer of sensor.
  3. Temperature effects
Relative humidity of gas depends to a large extent on temperature. Therefore, when measuring humidity, we should ensure that the humidity sensor works at the same temperature as far as possible. If it uses the same printed circuit board with the electronic components that release energy, the sensor should be kept away from electronic components as far as possible in installation, and shall be installed under the heat source while keeping a good ventilation of the shell. To reduce the heat conduction, the copper coating between the sensor and other parts of the PCB should be as small as possible. A gap shall also be left between them.
  4. Light influence and precautions for wiring and welding
The temperature and humidity sensor performance will reduce for being exposed in sunlight or strong ultraviolet radiation for a long time. Quality of signal wire will affect the quality of voltage output, and high quality shielded line is recommended. For manual welding, the contact time should be less than 3 seconds at the highest temperature of 300 ℃.
